Michael Jaeger KEROUAC (中音萨克斯风, 单簧管, 低音大提琴, 钢琴, 鼓)

Five young Berliners, a taxi driver, a wine dealer, a record shop sales girl, a film extra and a model are spending a typical Sunday. In the centre of this snapshot of Berlin life is a trip to the public bathing beach Wannsee. All too soon it is the end of the day, and the prospect of Monday looms, and the return to weekday routine. The film ends with images of a Monday bustling with activity and the closing series of intertitles announces: “Four... million... wait for... the next Sunday.” The film is considered as one of the most important works of the German film Avant-Garde, and it had a huge influence on the later French New Wave and Italian Neorealist movements.

The Zurich based saxophone and clarinet player Michael Jaeger has firmly established himself in the Swiss jazz scene. Together with his quartet KEROUAC, he plays a pleasant and relaxed rhythmical swing. A sound therefore, which is almost specifically tailored to a dreamy Sunday amongst friends in the year 1930.

A co-production of the Locarno International Film Festival, Youtopia and IOIC.
