Painting in Silent Film

Renowned painter John Minturn (Tully Marshall) struggles with his dwindling creativity. Following a careless remark of his strung-out model (Norma Talmadge) he secretly helps himself, against better judgement, to her stash and finds short-lived surge of energy and inspiration. But this addiction harbouring muse soon begins to take her toll. Rather than moving on with his art, the artist gradually loses himself in daydreams and hallucinations. He is drawn in to a downward spiral of addiction that threatens to destroy his private and his social life. Chester Whiteys early portrayal of the excitements and sufferings of a drug-using artist convinces with his merciless realism.

Uncompromising and currently living in voluntary exile in London, Zurich singer Evelinn Trouble has already accompanied several silent films live, together with bass player Flo Götte. She knows like no one else how to draw sound out of the silent images and enchant spectators.
